The conditions of adding people to a group are as follows:

  • You must have already registered to use Active Chat (need to register?).
  • You must be the administrator of a group to add users.

Note: In this example the groupname is called "myfriends" and the nickname of the user is "alex".

To add a member to your group who does not belong to any other groups you use the following format:

  • Start a text message

  • type <groupname> <addmember> <phonenumber> <nickname>

  • send the text message to the following number: 07970700800

For our example to add a member to the group who does not belong to any other groups we do the following: (see fig 1.)

  • Start a text message

  • type myfriends addmember 07970123456 alex

  • send the text message to the following number: 07970700800

To add a member to your group who is a member of other groups you use the following format:

  • Start a text message

  • type <groupname> <addmember> <nickname>

  • send the text message to the following number: 07970700800

For our example to add a member to the group who is also a member of other groups we do the following: (see fig 2.)

  • Start a text message

  • type myfriends addmember alex

  • send the text message to the following number: 07970700800

If someone you are trying to add to your group is a member of other groups then we must already know their mobile phone number, hence in the second scenario the number wasn't required.

TIP: Add the active chat number to your phonebook.

fig 1: the administrator invites the user 'alex' to be an active member of the 'myfriends' group.

'Alex' does not belong to any groups so the administrato has to include his mobile phone number.

fig 2: the administrator invites the user 'alex' to be an active member of the 'myfriends' group.

'alex' is already a member of other groups so the administrator only needs to include his nickname and not his phone number.
