What is ActiveChat?

A mobile group messaging service that is easy to use and cost effective.

How much does it cost and what do I get?

It cost's nothing to join but you must purchase message credits which cost 9.5p each.*

Can I create my own groups?

Yes you can. Please view the 'creating a group' help topic found in 'using active chat'.

Will I get spam text messages?

You will only receive messages from groups that you have opted in to. If you decide that you no longer wish to be a member of a particular group you can opt out easily.

Someone sends me messages I don't want, can I block them?

You can block individual members from a group that you belong to or opt out of the group completely.

Can I ask to join an existing group?

Yes you can use the 'requestjoin' command to ask the group administrator to invite you to join. You must know the group name to do this.

Is their a limit to the number of people in any one group?

There is no limit at all.

Would ActiveChat work abroad?

Yes, if you include the country code for the activechat number. For example if you wanted to send your group of friends a message and you were abroad, instead of the usual 07970 700 800 activeCHET number you would use the international exit code which is often 00 followed by the country code of choice, which if it's the UK would be 44 followed by the number minus the first 0. This would mean the number of activeCHAT would be 0044 7970 700 800.

Can I send messages from the site?

Yes, you can send messages from your account area. You will have to be registered and logged into your account to do this.

Is there any record of the messages that I have sent and received?

You can see all the message conversations you have had in the 'History' section in your account.
